M.S. Program
Department of Political Science and Public Administration admits students to the M.S. program once every year, for enrollment in September. Students need to apply for admission between 1st of May and 31st of May. To be considered for admission to the Master's Program, an applicant is required to submit;
B.S./B.A. degree
An official transcript for undergraduate studies and degree
A minimum score of 50 in the ALES
A letter of intention, explaining the candidate's expectations from the program and aimed field of study
Two recommendation letters (Graduates of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration need only to give names of two faculty members as references.)
A cumulative GPA of 2.50/4.00 (70/100)
English language proficiency scores based on METU English Proficiency Exam (minimum 70) and/or TOEFL (CBT minimum 227, IBT minimum 86) .
A pre-evaluation will be made based on the documents and the candidates successful in this process will have an interview (English-Turkish).
Qualifying candidates are then interviewed by a departmental committee in June, and the admission decisions are announced within a week.
Once admitted, students must complete the minimum required course load of seven courses and a prothesis seminar in, at most, three consecutive semesters with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00/4.00. Having successfully finished their course requirements and the prothesis seminar, students are expected to prepare their Master's thesis under the guidance of their advisor and submit it to the department no later than the end of their sixth semester in the program. The M.S. theses are supposed to be defended in front of an academic jury established by the department. Upon approval M.S. theses are submitted to the Graduate School of Social Sciences.
